There seems to be a theme running in the holistic health world today where more and more we tend to look at the body as one living organism rather than broken into separate components. Granted there is a time and place for that but at the end of the day, we have to see how our body is working together as a unit.

Even when one system gets sluggish, it tends to affect numerous other systems. That's why you rarely see just one health symptom and if you do you're like most of us {including myself} you most likely ignore it.

It's like the domino effect, once the first one crumbles they are start to get knocked down one right after the other. Which brings us to the question, which system kicks it off? What is that master foundation of health and how can we heal that to experience healing throughout our entire system?

Two years ago I found myself on a high, or a high in the world of nutritionist status. I had finally figured out an eating plan that seemed to be working. I had energy {or so I thought}, I had lost the majority of the baby weight I carried for over a year and I had just completed a half marathon.

Yet, what I didn’t realize that while my external appearance seemed to be paying off my internal show was a mess. Stressed, overworked, fatigued and ready to buckle I didn’t realize that on this high I was about ready to crash into a health-obsessed individual's worst nightmare.

Sickness, weight gain, depression, and more fatigue than I could possibly tell you.

Yes, right after this crash, of having the best Christmas we had in a long time, I lost it all.

It started out with just a minor cold, which quickly turned into a raging fever, weakness, dizzy spells, unknown diagnosis at doctor appointments, headaches, steroids, body aches, weight gain, blood tests, daily doctors appointments, x-rays, and depression. I literally had lost it all in a matter of weeks.

I have yet to talk much about the nitty-gritty of losing my health and fighting to get it back. Actually, it's been less of a fight and more of a learning process. The short story is I was doing everything right, eating well, exercising and living the traditional busy life of hustle. Not to mention raising three little girls all under the age of six.

I was doing it, chasing the shiny objects all while forgetting the essentials of life. I was giving, going, doing and becoming. I was trying desperately to be everything for everyone.

Unfortunately, this all came crashing down and quickly. Just after the first of the year in 2016, I found myself in multiple doctors offices, medical tests, blood work and ultimately begging for someone to help get my health back. Fortunately, I found a practitioner who helped change not only my health but my overall beliefs about health.

It was here, through daily {yes daily} appointments I had for a few weeks that I had an epiphany. Not just one but many along with many wake-up calls and many decisions I had to make about my lifestyle. This "healthy" life I thought I was living was actually making me sick and I believe it could be making you as well.

Unhappiness. Some say it's our greatest epidemic of our day. In fact, statistics show that nearly 50% of Americans are unhappy at work and less than one-third of people describe themselves as "very happy."

That means that nearly 70% of the American population are considered unhappy.

To me, this is one of the most startling statistics we are faced with. Not just because the majority of the population is walking around in a less than exciting trance, but that this is a direct relationship to our overall health. Yes, stress {happiness} is one of the biggest factors underlying health and one that is hard to measure and impossible to fight against.

The bottom line, happiness is a make it or break it factor in our health. Not to mention what fun is living without happiness?

A question I've pondered all the way back to my pre-adolescent phase; how to get rid of body odor?

The thought {and smell} of body odor takes me back to my 6th grade classroom. The time and place when everyone starts to smell but no one knows how to take care of it. Only to soon be masked through the 7th and 8th grade by body sprays, perfume, cologne and every other measure that is humanly possible to take away the awkward conversation of body odor.

I'm sure we've all had our fair share of embarrassing encounters with personal body odor issues. Or maybe you haven't and in that case go on and judge me. Because let me tell you body odor runs through my pores, literally.

While I could be alone, I'm going to assume by the statistics on deodorant sales we all have issues with body odor. Yes I'm proud to now know statistics on body odor. Don't bother looking it up, I got your back.

If we're honest with ourselves goal setting, resolution making and planning are often times just great thoughts. In my own life I've experienced this on one too many occasions. Spending hours planning but never following through with the plan.

Or better yet, setting unrealistic expectations (a.k.a. goals) that will never have a possibility of getting met. Last year was a great example. I was going to conquer the world. Okay, maybe not the world, but I had set some pretty high goals that weren't necessarily unrealistic. I had ultimately set an expectation that this was going to be my year.

I even bought a shirt that said those exact words, this was my year (because that makes if official). Yet not two weeks into the new year my life began to crumble around me. It happened slowly at first but quickly started compounding until I found myself nearly breathless and hopeless in a heap on my bathroom floor sobbing.

From there I spent one too many months in this heap of hopelessness questioning my purpose. Wondering how and if I would ever move beyond this point and seeking but never managing to find joy. I was broken, shaken and beat down.

I've recorded a podcast (along with my friend and mentor Mikaela Kate) to help you walk through this journey. To get your life back even when nothing seems to go as planned. It starts with emotion, with knowing and feeling where you've come from and creating a vision and an emotion for where you want to go. This is how you meet your dreams. This is how you find success.

It's not through good intentions. It's through purposely living. Doing everything with a purpose.
